What is the Xiom Omega V Europe capable of?
The Xiom Omega V Europe is one of the few medium rubbers which still provide much power and dynamics. By this, topspin openers can be performed in a very variable manner. Not only medium-fast and rotational topspins, but also hard, aggressive finishers can be played very effectively. The Omega V Europe is particularly known to optimally develop its full potential when playing from the half distance.
Due to the high degree of variability, you can always find the appropriate answer during counter topspin duels. This TT rubber develops an astonishing dynamics, which is normally not common among medium rubbers. The spin potential is similar to harder rubbers, but all strokes you do exhibit more feeling, and more control compared to harder rubbers. These properties have a main positive effect on the passive game. Usually, hard attacking strokes have a high rate of errors (and a large susceptibility to spin) when performing them during the passive game. The Xiom Omega V Europe, in contrast, "forgives" more errors whilst still exhibiting a similar attacking potential.
For which players is the Omega V Euro suitable?
Players who prefer hard and high-end rubbers with great dynamics & spin (whilst still relying on a high degree of feeling and variability!!), should take a closer look at the Omega 5 Europe. This TT rubber is also suitable for typical half distance players who appreciate much power and rotation.
The Omega V Euro compared to the other Xiom Omega V rubbers
The softest (sponge hardness 45 °) rubber within the Omega V series is by no means a slow rubber. But the Xiom Omega V Europe is slower than the other rubbers from this series. The closest rubber is the Pro version: Although the sponge is harder (47.5 °), this TT rubber is still very flexible due to its flexible topsheet. The Omega V Pro is suitable for the half distance, but when using this rubber close to the table, it performs even better. The Omega V Tour has an identical sponge (as present in the Pro), but its topsheet is harder. Hence, this rubber is more aggressive (in other words: more offensive).
Compared to the Omega V Pro, the topsheet of the Tour version is equipped with pimples which are wider, and which exhibit narrower necks. Hence, this TT rubber is mainly suitable for the hard, uncompromising topspin game close to the table.
The Xiom Omega V Asia is even a bit harder (sponge hardness: 48 °, also equipped with a harder topsheet). Hence, this rubber is only recommended for absolute topspin players who have a high training workload, and a quite high gaming level (because this rubber exhibits a significantly poorer control). For this reason, the Asia is no alternative to the Europe.
The Xiom Omega V Europe was designed for control-conscious allrounders with an "urge" to more offensive moves.
„Dynamic-Friction“ effect, especially developed for the new plastic balls
suitable for spin-oriented players
medium-hard, black Carbo sponge
As all rubbers within this series, also the Xiom Omega V Europe is equipped with the so called "dynamic friction" effect which was developed to optimize the gaming behavior when using the new plastic TT balls. This effect results in an increased friction between the ball and the rubber, allowing an increased amount of spin whilst keeping the loss of acceleration (and loss of peed) at a very low level.
Within this series, the Xiom Omega V Europe has the softest sponge (45 °). Combined with the spinny topsheet, you can develop much spin. Hence, the Omega V Europe exhibits more control (for returns, but also during offensive strokes close to the table, or from the half distance) which is also reflected in its values.
Based on the above mentioned properties, this rubber is perfect for the backhand, or - in more general terms - for players who like rotational topspins from the half distance.
The Omega V Europe is, as already mentioned, the softest version of the Omega V series. In case you are searching for a harder and faster rubber, we are pretty sure you will find something appropriate within the Omega V series.
The following list provides an overview:
- Xiom Omega V Asia: This is the hardest rubber within this series. Designed for very aggressive, and very offensive players.
- Xiom Omega V Pro: Slightly slower and softer than the Asia, but still fast and aggressive.
- Xiom Omega V Tour: The "golden mean". But still quite fast!
- Xiom Omega V Euro: This is the softest TT rubber within this series. Hence, it exhibits more control!
