As already mentioned, there are many styles of backpacks. For example, small photo backpacks, bike backpacks, backpacks with drinking systems, or large tour backpacks or backpack-suitcase hybrids. There are also backpacks designed for women (often marked with a symbol). These are attuned to the woman´s anatomy: Shorter length of the back, narrower distance between the shoulders, and so on.
Sizes of backpacks are usually given in centimeters or inches. These numbers represent the height, width, and depth of the backpack. For round shaped or conical forms, however, such specifications are only rough orientations since their geometry does not allow exact measures. Attention: Photo and laptop bags often use inner dimensions.
With respect to the capacity of a backpack, a certain technique is used: Fine-grained plastic granulate (grain size 1-2 mm) is filled into the backpack until it is normally filled. The quantity of the poured-in granulate is then measured and provided (e.g. in liters). Many backpacks also contain a recommendation regarding the load (often in kg or lb). Exceeding this limit reduces the wearing comfort, and causes damage to the material. Also note that there are backpacks which can bear much load, but not every "carrier" is able to comfortably handle that load (for longer periods of time). As a rule: Well trained people can carry 20 % (sometimes 33 %) of their body weight, also during longer periods of time. Considering kids, a load of 10 % of their body weight should not be exceeded!
Table tennis backpack - Its features
The purpose of a table tennis backpack is not only to securely store your racket, but also other items like clothes, jerseys, towels, or other accessories (e.g. table tennis cleaners, balls, replacement balls, electronic devices, etc.). Table tennis backpacks are sold by different providers. The backpacks are characterized by an optimal size, and many separate compartments.
Large compartments exhibit room for clothes or shoes, whereas shoes can usually be stored in separate shoe compartments equipped with a zipper. Some table tennis backpacks even provide room for a laptop or tablet. It is very useful if such compartments are stiff in order to avoid damages to your electronic devices or documents (paper). The compartments for your bat(s) are also separate due to a zipper. This is very important because a direct contact of your bat with other hard items (e.g. shoes, laptop, bottles, ...) should always be avoided. Speaking of bottles: These can often be stored at the side(s), where you can find carrying nets.
Another important factor is the form/geometry of your backpack. In order to achieve optimal wearing comfort, this form should always be attuned to the anatomical form and shape of your back. For this, an optimal padding is very essential. The straps of the table tennis backpack are usually adjustable in their length. Since table tennis backpacks are often made of polyester, they are easily washable.
