It has been well over a quarter of a century since Jan-Ove Waldner, Mikael Appelgren, and Jörgen Persson won the world championship title at the team World Championships in Dortmund (1989). To celebrate the 25th anniversary and honor the three Swedish legends and their incredible triumph, Donic has launched three exceptional blades. All three blades are meticulously handcrafted in Germany. A high standard of quality is also guaranteed in terms of material. Compared to other blades, this series exclusively uses high-quality sawn veneers. These have the great advantage of being significantly more stable than regular knife-cut veneers, counteracting material fatigue for Donic.

An important component of the blades is a three-millimeter thick Kiri core veneer and outer veneers made of 200-year-old Italian Spruce. Additionally, the so-called Carbon fleece Zylon fabric was specially developed for Donic. This synthetic fiber increases the stiffness of the blades and gives them higher dynamics. The process the veneers undergo is also special. First, the moisture content of the veneers is significantly reduced through a special drying process (from 12-16% to 4%). Then, the veneers or blades are pressed for 24 hours using a cold pressing process. This makes the finished blades more stable and lighter. A final important commonality of the three blades is the 3D technology, which guarantees optimal handling with the ergonomic grip. Light Power Allrounder - Donic Appelgren ALL+ World Champion 89:

In the slowest version of the series, two Ayous layers lie above the core veneer, and the Carbon fleece Zylon layers are located under the outer veneers. This construction results in a very low and pleasant overall weight of just 80 grams. On the other hand, it achieves a sensitive, controlled playing behavior that is perfect for a variable, safe game.

Harmonious Offensive Blade - Donic Waldner OFF World Champion 89:

The Waldner OFF World Champion 89 differs by having a different position of the synthetic fiber layers (directly above the core veneer), different intermediate veneers (0.8 mm Italian Spruce), and slightly thicker outer veneers (1.0 mm) compared to the Appelgren blade. This has two major impacts on the playing behavior of the blade. Logically, the blade is faster and plays more dynamically. Thus, effective attacking strokes are easily achieved. However, the arrangement of the carbon layers still provides a very pleasant playing behavior with good feedback. This allows for an excellent transition between sensitive, passive strokes and powerful attacks. With the 85-gram blade, a varied, efficient offense can thus be optimally implemented.

Donic Persson OFF+ World Champion 89:

Actually, the difference between the Waldner version and the Persson blade is only marginal on paper. Both blades weigh 85 grams, and the veneers used are exactly the same. However, in the Off+ version, the intermediate veneers are swapped with the Carbon fleece Zylon layers, so they lie directly under the outer veneers. This results in a significantly faster, more direct, and harder playing behavior. Dynamic topspins from any position and hard finishing strokes are therefore the specialty of the blade.
