What can you expect from the Xiom Omega V Tour?
With the
Xiom Omega V Tour, Xiom introduced a rubber to the market which
sets standards in terms of the modern attacking game. Already at the first encounter, you can clearly feel the enormous power and performance potential of this TT rubber.
Opening
topspins can be played very
spinny, rotational, and fast. Powerful topspin duels can be arranged with much pressure, no matter if you are close to the table, of further away (half distance). When doing powerful and full-range-of-motion movements, this TT rubber is capable of developing an enormous amount of rotation which creates many problems for your opponent.
All active strokes (no matter if topspin, shots, or flips), can be played in a very exact way. This brings many advantages for
aggressive, uncompromising players. When playing serves, the
Xiom Omega 5 Tour exhibits a good rotation, and an exact length of the balls. This is a major prerequisite to develop complicated and more sophisticated serves.
For which players is the V Tour suitable?
In order to be able to master the
Xiom Omega V Tour, you need a very stable & reliable technique, a high training workload, and - of course - an active, uncompromising gaming style. Compared to the top rubbers of other brands, the Xiom Omega V Tour can easily compete, and fully convinces with speed, dynamics, and rotation.
The Xiom Omega V Tour compared to the other Xiom Omega V rubbers
With its 47.5 ° sponge, the Tour version is relatively hard. The same sponge is also used in the
Xiom Omega V Pro. The difference between these two rubbers lies in the structure of the pimples. The Pro version has
thinner pimples with their
necks being further apart. Hence, the topsheet appears softer, which is also reflected in the gaming properties. The
Xiom Omega V Tour is not as uncompromisingly offensive as the Pro, and exhibits less power, and less rotation. Hence, this TT rubber is better to play with from the half distance.
Please note that the Tour version is not harmless at all! In case the Tour version is too soft for you, you could try the Pro, or the Asia (the latter being the hardest, and most offensive version within this series. Sponge hardness: 48 °, plus a very hard topsheet. You can get the most spin out of this rubber provided you are experienced enough).
The softest Xiom Omega 5 rubber is the Europe, which is equipped with a medium sponge (hardness 45 °). Note that this rubber still is a power rubber. However, it is designed so that also soft(er) topspins, or dynamical topspin games are possible from the half distance.
The comparison between the V Pro and the
Xiom Omega V Tour is quite interesting. The latter is characterized by the following features:
- offensive, spinny rubber
- for modern topspin players
- especially developed for the new plastic balls
- equipped with the hard, black Carbo sponge
- latest technology: "Dynamic-Friction“
With the latest „
Dynamic-Friction“ technology, Xiom reacted to the introduction of the new plastic TT balls. Due to this technology, there is an increase of friction between the rubber´s surface and the ball, hence enabling much spin, without losing much acceleration and power.
The
Xiom Omega V Tour is equipped with the same sponge as used in the Omega V Pro (47.5 °). But its
topsheet is a bit softer, and exhibits more spin. Furthermore, the Tour also has a bit
more control. For these reasons, its soft and spinny topsheet enables safe, rotational topspins. The hard
Carbo sponge allows for a very direct and precise feeling for the game. Please not that this rubber - similar to the Asia and Pro, does not "forgive" much errors.
In case you are searching for a rubber which can generate much speed & spin (during serves and returns, as well as during an active and passive offensive game), the
Xiom Omega V Tour is the right choice!
The Omega V Tour is a fast and hard TT rubber, but slightly softer than the Omega V Pro.
Below you can find an overview showing the main differences between the individual rubbers of this series:
- Xiom Omega V Asia: This is the hardest rubber within the whole Omega V series. Designed for aggressive offensive players.
- Xiom Omega V Pro: Slightly slower and softer than the Omega V Asia.
- Xiom Omega V Tour: The "Golden Mean" of the Omega V series. Still, this TT rubber is quite fast!
- Xiom Omega V Euro: The softest table tennis rubber of this series. Perfect in case you need more control.
