In terms of table tennis tables and ping pong tables, the Thuringian company Sponeta (located in Schlotheim, Germany) is well-known. whenever the weather conditions are accordingly, playing table tennis outside is always much fun and beneficial to the health. Sponeta is also specialized in outdoor tables, one of these tables is the Sponeta S 5-73 e. The whole S5 series is designed for hobby players with higher demands, clubs, and schools, for example. Within the S5 outdoor series, there are two other models: the S5-72e (green) and the S5-70e (grey), all of them being technically identical, except the different surface colors.

Sponeta S5-73e - the surface board of this outdoor ping pong table

The surface board is made of melamine resin, measuring a thickness of 6 mm. Melamine resins (melamine-formaldehyde condensation resins) belong to the category of synthetic resins, which are made of melamine and formaldehyde bonded together and belonging to the duroplastic plastics. Their properties exactly meet the criteria for outdoor tables: They are mechanically strong, thermically stable (e.g. well over 100 °C), and weather as well as light resistant. Mechanical impacts are critical, there is only a limited resistance. The same is true for acids or alkalis. However, under normal circumstances, your ping pong table should never get in touch with such substances.

The surface is blue and the melamine resin board is firmly glued onto the substructure. The frame profile is very stable (L-50 mm) and powder-coated (black, RAL code: 9005).

Sponeta S 5-73 e - the base frame under closer examination

The base frame (Compact Type 4b) of the Sponeta S 5-73e is also powder-coated, however, the color is a different one (white, RAL 9006). Designed as a squared tube (50x30 mm), it really provides a good stability. The transport of this table tennis table is performed via 4 double wheels (diameter 128 mm), which exhibit rubber running surfaces. All wheels are swiveling. The base frame also includes lateral holders for your rackets and balls, which is very convenient. Thanks to the playback position, you can also do single training sessions! Due to height-adjustable support legs, you can compensate unevenness in the floor of up to 30 mm.

In order to lock and secure this ping pong table, Sponeta provides the SMS mechanism (Smart Manual System).For this, there are handles that are always visible, no matter where you are. A drawbar just underneath the surface board unlocks both safety devices simultaneously. The automatic locking mechanism secures the table tennis surface board in the storage or playing position. The spreader bars and the support bracket are both black (RAL 9011).

Sponeta S 5-73 e - Scope of delivery, dimensions, and weight

The delivery takes place directly from the manufacturer to your place. Please provide a correct telephone number for the shipping company when ordering. The shipping is executed via a two-man service, the notification is usually by phone. The carton/box marking includes the product description, article number, and GTIN code. The delivery time within Germany is about 5-10 working days after the order was handed over to the delivery company. When shipping the table abroad, this time period is of course longer, depending on the target country.

The scope of delivery includes: Assembly instructions with language booklet and the net set "Perfekt II". Balls or rackets are not part of the delivery. The net set "Perfekt II" is stationary and includes a net holding profile with fixing plates and net posts outside and inside (all powder-coated) in order to adjust the height via a height adjustment screw. The net is black, with a loop (diameter: 8 mm). The tensioning cord with hooks stretches the upper edge of the net. The net dimensions are: Length= approx. 180 cm x Height=15.2 cm. For this table tennis table there are plastic pipings (6 mm diameter) according to the net height.

In the playing position, the Sponeta S 5-73 e measures Length=274 cm x Width=152.5 cm x Height=76 cm (corresponds to the international tournament dimensions). In the storage or parking position, the dimensions are: L=152.5 cm (with net: 184 cm) x W=69,5 cm x H=155 cm.

The packaging is a Type A single carton for the standing transport. The carton is quite stable and measures H = 162 x L = 144 x W = 9 - 15.5 cm (depending on the concrete model). At the bottom of the carton there is a transport foot (height approx. 2.5 cm) at the right and left side. Packaging and table weigh approx. 75.5 kg (gross weight), just the table weighs about 70 kg (net weight). It is recommended to mount this ping pong table in pairs, the duration is approx. 2-3 h.
