Victas VJ 07 Limber - An offensive but limber rubber from Victas
The table tennis brand Victas is possibly not as popular as other brands. A reason for this might be that this name was just recently created (in 2017). However, the broad expertise and experience reaches far back into the past: In 1931, the company was founded under the name Yamato Takkyu AG. Also in terms of table tennis rubbers Victas splashed out, and in 2019 the new Victas VJ > 07 series started! The
Victas VJ > 07 Limber is one of these new and mostly offensive table tennis rubbers made in Japan. As you might already presume, the add-on "Limber" (which means something like soft, smooth, flexible) is indeed no accident!
The rubber Victas VJ > 07 Limber under closer examination
The limber aspect of the
Victas VJ > 07 Limber primarily becomes evident considering its low hardness. The new tension sponge (latest generation) exhibits a hardness of 40°, representing the softest rubber within the whole series. This is also responsible for the great and
rich sound! Due to the softness of the sponge, the ball can penetrate deep into the rubber material (especially when doing hard strokes). As a consequence, the ball literally bounces back, just like a catapult. Hence, the Victas VJ > 07 Limber demonstrates a
gigantic catapult effect, which also considerably increases the speed of the ball when doing proper strokes.
The large amount of penetration into the rubber also induces another effect: The ball-racket-contact time is significantly increased. Hence, the ball is "leaded" for a longer period of time (the opposite is the case considering very hard rubbers). Due to this, there is an
improved feedback, feeling, and control - although the VJ 07 Limber has pronounced dynamics due to its high speed and the huge catapult effect. This helps you to reduce the amount of avoidable errors. For these reasons, the Victas VJ > 07 Limber is a
feel-good rubber.
To all offensive artists out there: Please, don´t panic! Yes, the
Victas VJ > 07 Limber is an offensive rubber! Next to the above mentioned speed and catapult, there is another feature of this rubber, which is particularly appealing to topspin fans: This ping pong rubber is highly elastic! This is a perfect supplement to the previously mentioned "limber" aspect. Hence, the topsheet is also called
speed topsheet enabling the generation of very rotational and spinny balls. All these properties are further supported by a
thin pimple structure. For all these reasons, the Victas VJ 07 Limber allows for a multi-facetted offensive game (Off) close to the table, but also from the mid distance.
Below, the new rubber series Victas VJ > 07 is briefly summarized for you:
- Victas VJC > 07 Sticky Extra: A thoroughly offensive (Off) hybrid rubber, which combines an extremely catchy topsheet and a quite hard (47.5°) Japanese sponge. Good control.
- Victas VJ > 07 Stiff: This rubber is softer than the above mentioned VJC > 07 Sticky Extra. Still, the VJ > 07 Stiff is classified as medium-hard (45°). It is also equipped with an open-pored tension sponge. Similar control, but slightly faster compared to the VJC > 07 Sticky Extra. Great development of spin! Gaming strategy: Offensive (Off)!
- Victas VJ > 07 Regular: A relatively soft (42.5°) rubber with a slight tension effect and a moderate catapult effect. Good precision, great feedback and control. A balanced and classical allround (All) rubber, which also allows more offensive moves.
- Victas VJ > 07 Limber: The softest (40°) table tennis rubber within the whole series. Indeed very fast & extremely elastic, great sound! Pronounced catapult effect, but still great feedback & good control. System: Offensive (Off)!
