The golden mean within this series? The Donic Desto F2

The Donic Desto F2 is a first-generation table tennis rubber with integrated speed-gluing effect. Its particularly balanced ratio between speed and control (which is the most important and most difficult criteria when developing rubbers!) was successfully implemented. Although the speed of this rubber is moderate, one always feels to have the jump behavior of the ball under control.

The hardness of the sponge is medium, however, it seems quite soft (but not as soft as the F3). The F2 provides a good and rich sound, and is slightly slower than the F1. All in all, this rubber is a successful balance between dynamics and the feeling for the game.

The Desto F2 and a summary on the remaining models

The Desto F2 from Donic offers good control despite the relatively high speed. If you feel that this model is too fast or too slow, then you really should take a closer look at the other rubbers. Within the Donic Desto rubber series, there are the following alternatives/choices:

• Donic Desto F1 Plus: an even faster rubber, new sponge and catchy topsheet.
• Donic Desto F1: Table tennis rubber with a quite hard sponge, for an uncompromising offensive style.
• Donic Desto F2: Rubber which exhibits medium hardness. Suitable for controlled topspins strokes.
• Donic Desto F3: This rubber has a quite soft sponge and is suitable for allround players, who rely on feelingful, sensitive attacking strokes.
• Donic Desto F3 Big Slam: Rubber exhibiting the pure control, induced by the soft sponge.
• Donic Desto F4: THE rubber for beginners, equipped with an integrated speed-gluing effect.

In 2015, another highlight from the Desto series was presented to the market: The Donic Desto F1 Plus. Its main focus was the further development of the sponge and surface (topsheet). It is most comparable to the Desto F1, but the F1 Plus is more controlled at the same hardness properties. Regarding speed, both rubbers are quite similar. Therefore, you should go for it and try!
