The Xiom Solo has 7 layers made of natural wood. Hence, this blade is a bit heavier (approx. 90 g) than e.g. blades made of only 5 layers. Its overall thickness is 6.4 mm. Compared to similar blades, the Solo is characterized by a great feeling for the game. This is caused by a softer touch of the ball, which provides much control in every stroke you do.
In addition, the Xiom Solo table tennis rubber exhibits a good feedback when doing e.g. topspin openers, or serves/returns. This makes it easier to avoid many simple mistakes, so that you can concentrate on your offensive game. You can either force your opponent to do mistakes (by playing safe topspins close to the table), or you simply end the rally yourself by playing hard finishers. Even if your opponent might push you into the defense, you can use the Solo to do blocks to distribute the balls with much power & pressure (but still with good control). This allows you to gain control over the game again.
The only negative aspect of the Xiom Solo is that this TT blade is just available with a straight or flared handle. However, most people are doing very well with these 2 choices. In this sense, there is nothing in the way between you and a table tennis blade designed to push you into the next level regarding a variable attacking game.
