The Xiom Aigis is also a relatively new TT blade from the house of Xiom. This blade is based on 5 veneers (natural wood), which are chosen to meet the requirements for different passive tactics. Importantly, its structure not only allows a constantly satisfying and good to control defensive game. The inner 3 veneers make the Aigis sufficiently slow so that you can induce - either with pimples in, or far away from the table using appropriate material - an overwhelming backspin defense which will cause lots of trouble for your opponent.
The Limba outer plies result in sufficient speed. This is important when doing your own attacks, or when doing counter topspins further away from the table. Even in case you are using pimples, you will be able to do powerful attacks to disturb your opponent. This also may easily disturb the rhythm of your opponent.
Limba is a tree usually native to regions south of the equator. The trees exhibit a height of up to 45 m, and their trunk reach a diameter of up to about 1.5 m. Limba is medium-hard (Janka hardness: 430), medium-dense (520 kg/m3), but quite strong (Young´s modulus: 9,400 N/mm2). This emphasizes the suitability of this blade to play sudden, offensive attacks. Furthermore, Limba is known as a topspin wood, which is also quite fast, but not very elastic / springy. Limba also has a soft feeling, and quite a bit of control.
