The 3+2 ply structure of the Axelo itself is identical to the models Strato and Ignito. However, the 5 veneers in the Axelo blade are all a bit thicker. Hence, this blade is thicker and heavier (overall thickness and weight: approx. 7.5 mm and 90 g, resp.). This significantly increases the acceleration properties. The Xiom Axelo is available with a straight, or flared handle.
The core ply of the Axelo TT blade is directly surrounded by the new and innovative Energy Carbon layers. Carbon is a material which is very light, and which exhibits a huge stiffness. Due to this, the Xiom Axelo is a very stable, direct, powerful, and extremely fast blade. These Carbon layers, combined with the outer veneers made of Kiso Hinoki, result in an extremely good force transfer within the blade. This further increases acceleration and speed characteristics.
Hinoki is originally native to Central Japan. The trees are up to approx. 40 m high, with a trunk diameter of about 1-3 m. Hinoki is quite strong (Young´s modulus: 9,000 N/mm2), medium heavy (density: 440 kg/m3), and medium-hard (Janka hardness: 550). These properties make Hinoki a very pleasant blade, resulting in a certain amount of feeling, and control.
During the counter game and during shots, hence, the Axelo shows its full potential. With this table tennis blade, you can do EXTREMELY fast strokes! In particular, very hard topspins (either close to the table, or from the half distance) go off the hand very easily. However, this blade still provides a fair amount of safety and control during passive blocks.
