Following the successful revision of Joola's Professional Line in 2023, there are various representatives to choose from within the so-called Tronix rubber series. The Joola Tronix CMD is the softer version, but still generates dynamics and power. All the details will follow immediately, we hope you enjoy reading!
The topsheet and the sponge are of course very significant here. Let's start with the sponge: this is designed to be medium-soft with a hardness of 42.5°. Here, too, the Giga Cell Sponge is used, which has large pores and produces a catapult effect. The topsheet allows for a very large thickness of the sponge and the sponge cells are quite energetic, which results in dynamics and acceleration. However, in terms of dynamics and penetrating power - not least because of the lower hardness - you should not expect any excessive miracles, more on this below.
The topsheet of the Tronix CMD is equipped with the so-called AS Traction technology. This means that the surface is grippy and therefore allows more friction between the ball and the racket. Consequently, this benefits good spin development.
In general, the price of this rubber is relatively okay, so the price-performance ratio is rather good. This rubber is available in three colours (blue, red, black) and in thicknesses of 2.0 mm and max. The rubber is a controlled offensive rubber, so in our opinion its suitability can be classified as OFF-.
As already mentioned, the Joola Tronix CMD is definitely not an offensive weapon. If you are looking for extreme speed and rotation, this is not the rubber for you. Rather, this rubber is suitable for players who have already mastered their basic techniques and now want to further refine and consolidate them as so-called application training (i.e. under different game scenarios and challenges). However, it should also be explicitly mentioned here that this version is also not suitable for beginners, as the rubber is simply too fast and too offensive for that.
From a technical point of view, it generates a very good performance regarding counters, blocks, serves and topspins, or for the short-short play / counter attacks. The control and feedback (primarily due to the lower hardness and the resulting longer ball contact time) is simply very good, with sufficient speed and dynamics for a more active style of play. The trajectory is relatively constant and there is good placement accuracy. This applies in particular to actions at the table.
However, there are limitations in terms of spin and speed (as already mentioned). Especially from the half distance or even away from the table, the rubber lacks a bit of spin and power (but you are more controlled when travelling).
If you are looking for a more offensive and dynamic rubber, you should take a look at the Tronix ACC or the Tronix ZGR. Both rubbers are faster. However, the following applies to both alternatives: If you want to master these rubbers well and utilise their full potential, you should have an advanced level of play.
