Donic is a German quality company, which is also well known for its high-quality rubbers. This series was particularly designed to counteract the loss of spin and speed caused by the plastic balls. Although the series successfully solves this problem, a few basic recipes remain more or less constant companions: a sticky surface (similar to Chinese models) and a rather dynamic sponge (with a built-in speed glue effect).
Now, Donic is following up with the Donic BlueGrip S1 and we would like to introduce this rubber to you in more detail. We hope you enjoy reading about it!
Within the BlueGrip series from Donic, there are some real weapons: Hard, fast and without compromise. These are the C rubbers (C1 and C2), which can therefore be regarded as extremely offensive. On the other hand, there is the S2, which is significantly softer and therefore less offensive. Of course, there are players for whom the S2 is simply too soft and the C rubbers too hard. The Donic BlueGrip S1 successfully fills this gap.
However, this rubber naturally contains all the successful ingredients of that series. First of all, there is the typically sticky-elastic topsheet. This increases the static friction coefficient, which transfers the movement of the racket to the ball more effectively. In addition, the ball is set in motion more strongly by the elastic surface of the rubber. In other words: This rubber leads to a very strong spin!
But the medium-hard sponge also has it all. It is not too soft but not too hard either, allowing the ball to "drill" into the rubber and consequently accelerate out again. The S1 therefore has a very good catapult effect with plenty of power (dynamic behavior). This is accompanied by good precision of the rubber and really good speed development. The pores of the sponge are medium-sized.
On the other hand, as already mentioned, the BlueGrip S1 is not too hard. This means that the ball remains "in the rubber" for a while and the ball contact time is not too short. This therefore enables consistently good control and feedback characteristics. Nevertheless, this rubber is an offensive version ("OFF" playing system), which requires a certain amount of experience and training in order to exploit its full potential.
Hence, it is primarily aimed at offensive players who pay particular attention to spin, high speed, precision, and a certain degree of control.
