Perfection for offensive players - The Tibhar Alexis Lebrun Off
Tibhar is a German table tennis company based in Saarbrücken, which has several decades of professional experience. This know-how is reflected 1:1 in their products. This also applies to the blades and within this product series we would like to introduce you to the Tibhar Alexis Lebrun Off. The name of this blade comes from the table tennis player Alexis Lebrun (born 2003 in Montpellier, France), who has already won the French men's singles championship several times.
As the name already suggests with the addition “Off”, this is an offensive blade (suitability OFF), consisting of 7 layers (5+2). This is primarily due to the carefully selected veneers and the fact that a synthetic fiber surrounds the core veneer. More details below. In general, the trajectory is well suited for attacking shots from half distance/close to the table. The blade has a large sweet spot: In other words, much of the area where the best bounce characteristics are present. A large sweet spot is better than a small one. Despite its offensive nature, this also promotes control.
The blade is available in 3 handle types: concave, straight and anatomical. With a weight of approx. 85 g, it is subjectively neither too heavy nor too light, the blade size is W 14.9 cm x L 15.7 cm.
The veneers of the Alexis Lebrun Off & their properties
Now we come to the veneers and their specific properties. The core of the Alexis Lebrun Off from Tibhar consists of Kiri wood (3 mm). This wood, also known as bluebell wood, is native to western and central China. It grows as a tree (approx. 15 m high) and can also be seen increasingly in Middle European regions. The wood is relatively soft (Janka hardness 250), really light (density 300 kg/m3), and not very stiff (modulus of elasticity 4,400 N/mm2). Consequently, Kiri veneers are ideal for a lot of control and feedback.
Special carbon fibers (0.2 mm) have been integrated around the core veneer. Carbon consists mainly of carbon (also known as carbon fiber) and is very light, but at the same time very strong, stiff, and stable. And this is precisely what gives this blade its significantly increased offensive potential.
Ayous (a.k.a. Abachi) wood comes next with a thickness of 0.6 mm. The trees, which can grow up to 50 m tall, are originally found in tropical areas of West Africa. The wood is relatively light (350 kg/m3) with a medium hardness (Janka: 430) and good rigidity (modulus of elasticity: 6,800 N/mm2). Ayous stands for very good playing characteristics (control-optimized alignment with lots of feedback). However, its medium hardness also allows for more offensive moves!
Finally, the outer veneer is made from Koto (0.3 mm). Compared to the other wood types mentioned above, this wood is significantly heavier (590 kg/m3), stiffer (9,000 N/mm2), and harder (Janka: 950). This makes Koto a fast and spin-friendly, offensive veneer.As it also forms the top veneer, these offensive properties are passed on directly and are therefore more noticeable.
