Carbon is well-known as an absolute high-end fiber. Hence, Tibhar´s developers might have thought that some layers of such a brilliant fiber would not harm the Tibhar Triple Carbon. And they were right!
As you already might have thought when reading its name, this attacking TT blade does not contain one or two carbon layers, it contains 3 carbon layers! These plies, however, are not located at random spots. They are located at very specific regions, exhibit a specific thickness, and each layer fulfills a certain task.
The middle carbon layer is relatively thick, and its main purpose is it to induce a high stability (overall weight of this TT blade: approx. 90 g). This is very important in order to significantly reduce unpleasant vibrations. Both outer carbon layers, in contrast, are a bit thinner and lighter. They guarantee a huge and effective acceleration of the ball. This, in turn, allows you to play topspins and shots with a very high speed!
As already mentioned above, the Triple Carbon is not only a "stubborn" destroyer. Of course, the power induced by the carbon is for real, but there is still a relatively good control. This is because the veneers in between are made of natural Balsa wood. Balsa is a tree which grows in neo-tropical regions around the world (South America, Central America, West Indies). The trees reach a height of up to 50 m, and the trunks may reach a diameter of up to 2 m. Balsa is very light (130 kg/m3), not very strong (2,000 N/mm2), and soft (Janka hardness: 88). When using balsa in TT blades, the main properties are much control, a good feedback, feeling, but also quite a catapult effect.
In addition, the outer plies are made of Ayous (also known as Abachi, or Samba). Abachi grows in tropical areas, such as West Africa, Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana, etc. The tree reaches a height of 50 m, and a trunk diameter of approx. 1.5 m. Ayous is way heavier (350 kg/m3), stronger (Young´s modulus: 6,800 N/mm2), and significantly harder (Janka hardness: 430) than Balsa. This results in an increased overall speed, very positive effects on the spin development, and a dangerous counter behavior since the bounce of the ball is quite flat. These properties are advantageous for rotational topspins.
The combination of the three materials (carbon, balsa, and ayous) are the main ingredients as to why this table tennis blade is very popular, and successful. The Tibhar Triple Carbon exhibits optimized gaming properties (suitable for Off+ players). This is based on a good feeling for the ball and a good control; but also on an incredible power, speed, and directness. All these properties are essential for a powerful, aggressive, and offensive table tennis blade.
