Tibhar Ellen DEF - The slower brother of the Ellen Off

The names of both Tibhar Ellen rubbers are really self-explanatory. Next to the Ellen Off, which is of course more suitable for the active and faster antitop game, there is also the Tibhar Ellen Def. As its name already suggests, it is of course more defensive than the Off version. If you prefer a classical defense style using an anti-topspin rubber, the Tibhar Ellen Def might just do this job.

This table tennis rubber is designed in such a way that there is a great ball safety at any time point during the game. The soft sponge (approx. 10° softer than the Ellen Off) causes a pleasant and moderate overall speed, which results in a good control. Also note that a softer sponge increases the ball-rubber-contact time. Due to this, the mechanoreceptors in your hand and skin can obtain more information, which leads to an improved feedback of the ball, rubber, and blade. In addition to this, the softer sponge also effectively decelerates (fast) attacks coming from your opponent. This allows you to successfully return such dangerous attacks.

The topsheet of the Tibhar Ellen Def exhibits a relatively smooth surface, which is typical for an anti-topspin rubber. Due to this, this Tibhar rubber is not very prone for incoming balls with much rotation. As a consequence, this feature easily promotes the successful defense of highly spinny topspins reaching you. The greatest strength of the Ellen Off rubber is the safe and passive game with maximum control. For this reason, it is recommended for defensive players (gaming style: DEF).

In addition to the classical defense, the Tibhar Ellen Def also supports blocks close to the table and a "wait-and-see" allround game. For anti-topspin players, who regularly integrate active strokes in their game, the Tibhar Ellen Off might be a better choice, see below.
