Tibhar Balsa Fibretec 75 - A great blade for offensive forces!

In terms of the attacking game, the Tibhar Balsa Fibretec 75 provides a new dimension. This table tennis blade form Tibhar is incredibly fast, direct, and exhibits a huge amount of (penetration) power. At the same time, the Balsa Fibretec 75 is very light.

These characteristics are based on the core veneer, the heart of a blade. This is made of Balsa. Balsa is a tree which is native to neo-tropical regions (South America, Central America, and the West Indies). It reaches a height of approx. 50 m, whereas its trunk has a diameter of up to 2 m. Balsa is very light (density 130 kg/m³), not very strong (Young´s modulus: 2,600 N/mm²), and soft (Janka hardness: 88). You can see that this wood is perfect to reduce weight. Furthermore, the softness of the wood causes very pleasant overall gaming properties: e.g. good control, much safety, and much feedback. Balsa is also known to exhibit catapult-like effects.

The Balsa core veneer exhibits a thickness of 7.5 mm, which is -compared to other Balsa blades from Tibhar- relatively thick. Hence, the above-mentioned properties are pronounced even more. This also includes the catapult effect and speed. The penetration power when doing shots or hard blocks is really impressive. The glass fiber layers also contribute to this. As you probably know, these fibers are very strong and tight, significantly increasing the overall stability of the Balsa Fibretec 75. This also enlarges its sweet spot (the sweet spot corresponds to the area of the blade where the ball should be hit. This is because you can find the most homogeneous properties at this spot).

These properties, and the low weight of this table tennis blade, make the Tibhar Balsa Fibretec 75 particularly advantageous when doing short strokes (strokes with a short range of motion). So in case you are doing your topspins with only little movements, this Tibhar blade might be most suitable.

As already mentioned, the weight of the Balsa Fibretec 75 is only about 70g, making it one of the lightest blades worldwide. The advantages of this are clear: Only little physical effort is necessary to accelerate the blade, providing excellent penetration power. In terms of the implementation of Balsa, Tibhar was a bit cautious and reserved so far. However, with these three versions, this has changed and there is something suitable for each of the main gaming systems in table tennis.
