Nittaku Magic Carbon - High quality made in Japan
The Nittaku Magic Carbon is a real classic! For several years now, this table tennis rubber from Nittaku is associated with high sales figures and much popularity. Of course, this is also because of the long-lasting tradition and experience of this Japanese company (since 1920).
Another reason might be that the Nittaku Magic Carbon is available in five different sponge thicknesses. This facilitates the process of finding the rubber which suits you best. As you know, the thicker the sponge, the faster and more offensive its properties. Hence, many different sponge thicknesses will make it easier for you to match the rubber to you individual wishes. This also allows a great deal of variability. At the times of the ESN rubbers, we from TT-Shop list the Magic Carbon into the category Allround (ALL).
Nittaku Magic Carbon - A closer look at this rubber
Let us start with the top layer of the rubber, the so-called topsheet. Two key characteristics are its elasticity and and its catchy behavior. Due to the catchiness, there is a great amount of static friction. Consequently, the ball is strongly rotated. The elasticity supports this as it works similar to a spring: Energy is stored and released, even increasing the rotation of the ball. Hence, if you are planning on doing more offensive moves, there will be no lack of spin. Such offensive moves are also supported by the medium sponge, however, without sacrificing safety (see below).
However, the Nittaku Magic Carbon is also a rubber which exhibits much control. As a consequence, there is much safety in all strokes. The high level of feedback is a particularly important feature when doing safe blocks or counters, for example. Another feature of the medium sponge is that you can clearly perceive this in terms of the ball contact times and the good control.
