Balsa is a tree which is native to neo-tropical regions (South America, Central America, and the West Indies). It reaches a height of approx. 50 m, whereas its trunk has a diameter of up to 2 m. Balsa is very light (density 130 kg/m³), not very strong (Young´s modulus: 2,600 N/mm²), and soft (Janka hardness: 88). You can see that this wood is perfect to reduce weight. Furthermore, the softness of the wood causes very pleasant overall gaming properties: e.g., good control, much safety, and much feedback. Balsa is also known to exhibit catapult-like effects.

Limba is a tree usually native to regions south of the equator. The trees exhibit a height of up to 45 m, and their trunk reach a diameter of up to about 1.5 m. Limba is medium-hard (Janka hardness: 430), medium-dense (520 kg/m³), and quite strong (Young´s modulus: 9,400 N/mm²). This emphasizes the suitability of this blade as an offensive minus (Off-) blade. Also, Limba is known as a topspin wood, with a soft feeling and quite a bit of control.

Anigre is native to East Africa, and - occasionally - to the Ivory Coast. The tree can reach a height of up to 30-55 m, whereas its trunk reaches a diameter of up to approx. 1 m. Anigre wood is medium dense (550 kg/m³), but very strong (Young´s modulus: 11,000 N/mm²), and quite hard (Janka hardness: 750). In table tennis, Anigre blades hence behave in a direct and spinny way.
