Victas Koji Matsushita ZC - Premium blade
The Victas table tennis company is supplying new premium models of its blades. In this case, it is the Victas Koji Matsushita ZC, which was developed together with Koji Matsushita (a former successful Japanese table tennis player). The letters “ZC” stand for Zexion® carbon fibers, a material that we will take a closer look at.
The blade weighs around 87 g - so it's not a lightweight, but it's not particularly heavy either, which benefits the playing characteristics. Other dimensions are the size of the blade (165 x 155 mm) and the two handle shapes (flared: 100 x 23 mm, straight: 97 x 24 mm). The thickness of the blade is 5.8 mm.
The orientation of this blade basically corresponds to the defensive playing system (DEF). However, further variations and nuances are possible here - depending on which rubbers are used. You should also bear in mind that even within one type of rubber, the thicker or thinner it is, the more offensive or defensive it is, respectively. This rubber can therefore also be described as DEF+ or even ALL-. Depending on the rubber and your own activity in the game, this results in a fast high-end defensive blade.
The materials of the Koji Matsushita ZC from Victas
As already mentioned at the beginning, the innovative Zexion® carbon fiber (ZC) is used for the first time in the Koji Matsushita ZC from Victas. Carbon is basically a synthetic fiber that consists almost exclusively of carbon. Carbon is known for its low weight, but also for its high stiffness. As the ZC fibers are located directly on the core veneer, the blade is stiffer overall, more offensive, and more direct with a larger sweet spot (= the area where the balls bounce optimally and homogeneously), but this effect is not as great as if the ZC had been located further out in the veneer.
As a result, this blade retains its pleasant, feedback-rich playing style. Hence, it behaves explosive and powerful, but also in a controlled way. This makes it an ideal addition to this already very popular series.
