Another blade from the Burn series - The Donic Burn OFF -

In the Donic Burn Off- the veneers are heat-treated and dried prior to gluing them. This is achieved by a special procedure called Thermic Burned Technology: The wood is dried for one day using high temperatures. This eliminates remaining moisture and guarantees a high stability of the blade.

In terms of the composition of this table tennis blade, there are only small differences within this series. All blades are made of Mahogany, Awan, and Kiri. The core veneer (Kiri), however, is slightly thinner compared to the faster Burn OFF version. This slightly reduces its weight (Off-: roughly 85 g, Off: roughly 90 g), increases its control & feeling, and decreases its elasticity. The latter aspect improves the rotation in topspin balls, especially when combining the Donic Burn OFF Minus with soft rubbers.

Of course, you can also use hard rubbers. With these, this blade provides a great performance because of the large sweet spot area. Inaccuracies at the ball impact exhibit a smaller negative effect on the performance of offensive strokes. This is because the sweet spot is defined as the area of homogeneous gaming properties: The larger the sweet spot, the better. The veneers of the Donic Burn OFF -

Let´s get started with the core veneer of the Donic Burn OFF -, which is made of Kiri. Kiri is a tree native to Central and West China, but cultivations of this tree can also be found in Japan, Korea or North America. The height of this tree is approx. 15 m. Kiri wood is light (density: 300 kg/m³), relatively weak (Young´s modulus: 4,380 N/mm²), and not very hard (Janka hardness: 250). These properties promote softness, feeling, control, and feedback.

Unfortunately, we were unable to find much information in terms of Awan. Awan seems to be an art term for a specific type of wood and using the art term might aim to prevent people from copying it. However, we were able to find out that Awan has a low weight also providing control, feeling, and an excellent feedback.

Mahogany is a very noble wood. There are several species native to tropical areas around the globe. The trees may reach a height of up to 60 m and a trunk diameter of up to 3 m. Mahogany is medium-heavy (550 kg/m³), but extremely strong (Young´s modulus: 13,500 N/mm²) and very hard (Janka hardness: 700). It becomes evident that such hard Mahogany veneers promote speed and power in this blade.
