Andro Rasanter V42 - An OFF- rubber from the Andro Rasanter series
The Andro Rasanter V42 is the softer version of the two Andro rubbers equipped with the aggressive V-topsheet (V stands for velocity). It exhibits thin pimples. The green sponge has a hardness of 42°, which is classified as medium-soft. Both components, the sponge and the highly spinny V-topsheet, are a great combination.
This is because due the thin topsheet, there is more room for the sponge. Hence, sponge thicknesses of not only 1.7 and 2.0 mm are possible, but also the so called ultra-max thickness (2.3 mm). Both components (sponge and topsheet) result in much speed, rotation, and catapult-like effects. For these reasons, the Rasanter rubbers are indeed capable of neutralizing the detrimental effects of the new plastic ping pong balls (= lower speed and less rotation). Particularly in terms of spin and rotation, the velocity topsheet result in a flatter and more direct bounce behavior of the ball compared to Andro Rasanter rubbers with the rotation topsheet (R-topsheet).
Another strength of this rubber is its good behavior when doing blocks. Because of the pronounced catapult effect, these go off the hand quite easily. However, (not only) blocks exhibit a somewhat limited precision.
