Andro Rasanter R53 - A closer look, please!
Let's start with the highlight. No, it's not just the harder sponge! We'll get to that later. The Andro Rasanter R53 is equipped with the Energy Cell Technology. As you all surely know, rubbers are made of rubber. In this table tennis rubber, the natural rubber, which comes from the rubber tree, is mixed with so-called Energy Cell additives and later treated in a special heat treatment process. During this process, the Andro-specific Energy Cell pore structure is formed. However, the walls of these pores are significantly stiffer and more resistant (higher modulus of elasticity) compared to other products of similar size.
What does the Energy Cell Technology do? Here comes the very hard (53°) and green sponge into play. As you surely know, hard or very hard sponges ensure an extremely fast, direct, and powerful playing behavior with corresponding limitations in control and feel. However, the rubber does not feel as hard as the number 53 suggests. This is mainly due to the aforementioned technology, as the so-called Energy Cell sponge can compensate for this to some extent and "combines" the advantages of very hard and somewhat softer sponges. This is particularly advantageous for harder topspins, but also for topspin openings, as the energy transfer is also optimized.
The so-called R-top sheet is another feature of the new Andro Rasanter R53. R stands for rotation. This means that the top sheet can generate a lot of rotation (i.e., spin) in your balls. Why is that? On the one hand, it is because the entire R series of Andro Rasanter rubbers has relatively wide pips necks. This makes the top sheet more compact and gives less. This makes the playing behavior more direct, you can "carry" the ball better and thus transfer more rotation to the ball.
On the other hand, this is also reinforced by the integrated speed gluing effect. This means that the rubber is already provided with higher internal tension from the factory. Such rubbers are also referred to as tensor rubbers. As a result, the TT rubber can naturally store more energy during deformation (such as when the ball hits during a topspin) and consequently release more energy, which allows the ball to rotate more. This naturally also increases the dynamics, speed, and catapult effect in the Andro Rasanter R53. This makes this rubber also ideal for the new plastic ball, which is known to be somewhat slower and less spinny than the old celluloid balls.
