Donic Piranja CD - A great long pimple rubber

Long pimple rubbers are still very popular with defensive players. These have their pimples facing outwards. The German quality company Donic also offers such rubbers and here we would like to introduce you to the Donic Piranja CD. CD comes from the English and stands for "Classic Defence".

Classic long pimples for a modern defence game - the Piranja CD

It sounds somewhat contradictory at first: How can a classic rubber contribute to a modern game? The answer lies in the construction and structure of this rubber, specifically the sponge and the pimples.

The sponge of the Piranja CD can be described as soft to medium-minus. In contrast to hard sponges, soft sponges yield more on ball impact. This means that the ball can penetrate deeper and therefore longer into the rubber. The ball contact time is therefore increased, which also increases the feedback of the ball for the player. This means that an excellent feel and ball feedback can be achieved, which in turn increases control enormously. These are of course extremely relevant properties for defensive players.

As already mentioned, the pimples of the Donic Piranja CD are long. Compared to short pimples, long pimples are more flexible and quasi smoother. As a result, they are more capable of "stopping" the rotation of incoming balls. In addition, the structure of the pimples is ribbed, which increases the size of the surface. This together is very important for the so-called disruptive effect / a spin reversal, which in turn poses problems for the opponent.

Due to the characteristics described above, the Piranja CD from Donic is therefore an ideal basis for a modern, creative and defensive (disruptive) game, also as an ideal complement to the Donic Slice 40 CS. It also offers very good spin reversal and control (see above). In concrete terms, this long pimple is simply excellent in the context of a modern game when it comes to changing cuts when pushing, blocking and counter-attacking. This applies to actions at the table as well as from further away.
